If you’re shopping the concentrate case at FLWR for the first time, or just want to feel more oriented before you walk in, here’s what’s actually worth knowing before you buy.
How to read a concentrate label:
THC percentage tells you the potency, but it’s only part of the picture. Two products at the same THC percentage can feel very different depending on terpene content and the extraction method used. A 75% live resin and a 75% distillate cart are not the same product.
Terpene content is listed on most premium concentrate labels and is one of the clearest indicators of quality. Higher terpene percentage generally means more flavor complexity and a more complete effect profile.
Extraction method tells you how the product was made. Look for “live” in the name, live resin or live rosin, which signals that fresh-frozen plant material was used rather than dried and cured flower. Solventless (rosin) versus solvent-based (resin) will also tell you about the process purity.
What the texture tells you:
Shatter is rigid and glass-like. It’s typically a solvent-based extract that’s been carefully purged and cooled to a brittle consistency. Breaks cleanly on a dab tool.
Badder has a creamy, frosting-like texture. Often associated with terpene-forward extracts that have been whipped or manipulated during the production process. Easy to work with on a dab tool.
Sugar looks like wet sugar crystals and typically forms naturally in terpene-rich extracts when the cannabinoids begin to crystallize.
Sauce is a combination of large THCA crystals swimming in a high-terpene liquid fraction. Two-phase texture, usually very aromatic, and one of the most flavorful formats on the shelf.
